Fans rolled up their sleeves and made the Fix Automata Resolution tool, among other mods, which helped the game’s visuals and repaired other glitches. Just a few weeks after the worldwide PS4 release date, Nier Automatas PC version released to high praise on a surface-level, but many critics and fans also noted severe issues with the port.

Reviews of the PC version panned it for its technical disappointments, but neither developer Platinum Games nor publisher Square Enix ever issued a patch to resolve them. Nier: Automata arrived on Xbox Game Pass today, and PC fans quickly discovered that the Windows Store version of the game is an updated Become As Gods edition, rather than the vanilla Steam release. Arguably, the controversy with Nier Automata really began in 2017, when the game was initially ported to PC via Steam. But it does manage to fix some of the low-quality textures found in it. This Texture Pack doesn’t bring any massive visual improvement to the game. Nier: Automata launched on Windows PC in March 2017, about two weeks after its PlayStation 4 debut in the West. Let’s not mince words: the NieR Automata PC port is not all that good, and it does very little to take advantage of high-end systems.
